TERMS OF REFERENCE
PILOT, CHAD
POSITION: Pilot, Chad ( 3 position required)
ORGANISATION: African Parks Network, Chad.

REPORTING TO: Field Operations Manager

Regional Aviation Manager
EXPECTED PERIOD: 2-years
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Fixed Duration
BACKGROUND:
African Parks is a non-profit organization that takes total responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks in partnership with governments and local communities. African Parks, through affiliated local boards, has management responsibility for the Greater Zakouma Ecosystem, Aouk Project & Ennedi Natural & Cultural Reserve.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The pilot will fly and manage aviation in their respective park, reporting to its Field Operations Manager with technical supervision from the Regional Aviation Manager and Park Manager. The pilot will be required when necessary to relocate to the various Chadian Parks as a support structure.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
Aviation
- Pilot the parks ULM/C182/C206 for logistics, surveillance and research purposes.
o Conduct logistics flights throughout the Chadian territory.
o Conduct regular surveillance flights and report any illegal activities, e.g.
agricultural encroachment, illegal fishing or grazing, poaching, etc. o Conduct any necessary flights pertaining to ecological research
- Relief for Chadian regional pilots when necessary, ready to fly the respective parks aircraft ULM/C182/C206 in the event aircraft are made unavailable.
- Maintain and manage the respective parks aircraft, including licenses, permits, services, fuel and oil management, spares stock, safety and SOPs, etc.;
- Oversee the maintenance of the parks airstrips as well as supervise the construction of new airstrips;
- Keep the aircraft clean and tidy at all times, and ready to fly at short notice;
- Follow Aviation SOPs and assure that parks aviation operations maintain a high level of adherence to these SOPs
Reporting
- Conduct all aviation-related reporting, including production of a monthly report that feeds into a broader monthly park report for aviation.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifying Requirements
- SACAA CPL/IR (valid)
- Class 1 Medical (valid) * CRM/DG/SEPT (valid)
- Proficiency Check (valid)
- Type rated on Cessna 182, Cessna 206 and IPC Savannah
- 150 hrs on type (recent)
- 800 hrs Total Time (1000 preferred)
- No accidents/incidents in last 3 years
- Comfortable with living and working in remote areas

Aviation SOPs are well-respected and aviation is both safe and effective, with Field Operations and management staff clearly satisfied with the logistics, surveillance and research flying; and all aviation supervisory roles within African Parks content with the progress being made on aviation in the Chadian Region.
